Black & White

I enjoy black & white photography because it forces the eye to notice shapes and shadows, rather than being fooled by color.  Here are a few of my favorite shots, mostly black & white, with two exceptions. . . My dog’s eye and the red umbrellas at the poolside lounge.   Enjoy. . .

do u make your living by being a photographer? and a generally creative person?

  2. Love your dog’s soft brown eye…

I love the concept of removing all but one object’s color. The trouble is, it’s very time consuming and doesn’t always come out looking they way I envisioned it. Then again, much of the creative process is about chance anyway.

love the red umbrellasand the empty train ride and, of course, your dog!

The train depot photograph won second place in a the annual Red Rock photo contest…it might have won first, but they miss-categorized it under creative instead of black and white. Funny thing was…I also won first place in that same category with a another photograph during the same contest.

Both wins got me invited to do my own showing at the federal courthouse a few months later. It was a fun experience.
